Damper Plugs? was created by N0WH3R3
Hello again after a looooong break!
So I'm in the middle of putting my engine back together ('80 KZ750E)
and noticed that 1 of the damper plugs (part # 92066-1016) is missing.
They are cheap enough to replace and I'm going to order some but
what purpose do these serve exactly and is it bad idea to run without them?

The dampeners supposedly help prevent a "ringing" sound induced in the fins by a running engine.
Doesn't hurt anything to run without the dampeners.
Am guessing these were more effective on large-fin two stroke engines.
Good Fortune!

Seems like it would cool slightly better if they were left out but left em alone.... wonder if any racers out there ever remove theirs.

Thanks! I think I'm gonna run it without them.Patton wrote: The dampeners supposedly help prevent a "ringing" sound induced in the fins by a running engine.
