non permanent locking agent
18 Mar 2017 06:54
Hello,
Do you use a non permanent locking agent like it's tell on the service manua lwhen you rebuild the engine?
If yes, what's the best one?
Same for the liquid gasket, what's the one you use generally for the engine ?
Thank you

Use BLUE Loctite such as 242 threadlocker where the Kawasaki Service Manual calls for non-permanent locking agent. Don't use the red Loctite as it is much more permanent and will make removing the fastener extremely difficult or impossible.
As far as a liquid gasket - there are very few places that is required on a KZ650 engine. The one place I have seen it specified is on a small section of the clutch cover gasket where it spans a seam in the engine cases. For that I use Hondabond 4 semi-drying liquid gasket. I believe it is made by "Three Bond" who also makes Yamabond, Kawibond, etc. Ed

Threebond 1184 for between the case halfs.
There are all different kinds of "XXXbond products" but not all are the same so it's hard to know which to use for what application unless you have the appropriate manual.
As for thread locker, I use Threebond 1360. It's medium strength and high temp, so it's the right stuff for engines.
