Just finished tearing down the head of my 550. Actually looking pretty good after 55Kmi. Only thing is, I am having a difficult time finding a head gasket unless I buy a complete engine gasket kit for big bucks. Don't need them all, Got my valve cover gasket already and new valve stem seals. Anyone know of a supplier who sells just the head gasket?
Make sure your get the all metal one. There are other out there that have fibrous around the metal cylinder hole rings, and many 550 owners have reported seeping after a few miles of using them. Stay with the all metal Kawasaki Head Gaskets. The one swest has posted above, looks to be all metal.
If the two oval oil line pins are flat on the top, put the modified ones in, the ones with little pointed tops, helps with weeping at the sides, and go with the metal gasket much better than the old type
