while im waiting for vulcan parts, the kz is going to get some much needed upgrades. 15 inch apes, mikuni vm30 round slide carbs with new manifolds, fuel lines and a 1-2 throttle cable. motion pro extended clutch cable, and new throttle and control levers. if i can find the right size wheels im gonna go with disc brakes all around. rear sissy bar, side mount license plate with leds, new signals and headlight. probably extend the forwards if i stay with mechanical brakes.

still waiting on a oil pressure gauge and a new throttle cable for the mikunis but pleased with the changes so far. all led lighting, monstercraftsman chain tensioner to take up the slack in the chain. had to replace the gas tank and petcock due to age and rust.

Why does that remind me of this?

I'm not into choppers or bobbers but here is a suggestion.
You might want to look for some KZ305 spoke wheels.
I'm going of memory and I'll look tomorrow to confirm.
18 in x 1.60 front and 16 x 2.15 rear. same sprocket bolt pattern
and offset. Front is single disc and rear rim could be relaced to a
KZ750B or KZ1000 disc brake hub. Your front looks to big for
the rest of the bike.

it looks terrible in pictures but much different when standing next to it. i originally built the bike with a kz305 front end because the 305's forks are longer than the 400's. i was using a 19" single disc brake wheel but when the deal for the springer came along, i jumped on it. just so happens there is a 1977 kz750b sitting here but its my brothers and i promised i wouldnt rob any parts off of it. thats the next project to put back together.
it looks like its easier to just get a harley disc brake wheel set up because its a simple bolt on item. i have to check on the axle size for the kz1000, theres a few wheels on craigs list i can grab for cheap

Choppers are not my thing but it sure looks like a lot of good work was put into that bike and I respect that. It's a nice clean looking bike. Keep us posted
