There have been discussions about a certain brand of aftermarket piston and ring sets. I would measure every component carefully.

I sanded the pistons with some 1500 and set the rings as noted in the service manual. Placed the rings in the bores and all the end gaps were OK according to the book. Bike runs great without any noise when on the needles but it does still chug little at idle.

One thing I did notice is that the oil light starts to flicker at around 1,000 RMS as i adjusted the big idle knob down.

I was told years ago that rings will spin around the pistons when its running. Is this true or folk lore on the rigs working themselves around the pistons when running???

It's true. I'd check the oil pressure now.

You can get a adapter that matches the threads on the sensor and a regular pressure gauge. Do you have a manual?

It should tell you what the pressure is. I think it's a high pressure system so that's important.

Havent found it as of yet. The sections covering the oil pump or the pressure relief valve doesnt mention an expected oil PSI far as I can find.

She seems to be doing ok. Took a 20 mile ride today without issues. Got a situation with the turn signal lights though. See my post inn the electrical section for details.
