Kawasaki KZ400 1974 Will not start was created by kyan44
So when I try to start up my KZ400 (it is a kickstart by the way), it will not turnover. The weather here is cold and it has been raining. I barely changed my spark plugs. I also check the lights on my gauge, it is very dim. Will the battery affect the reason why it will not start?

Yes, you need a properly charged battery.

If your bike's battery is shot buy a new one. Don't hook the bike up to jumper cables that are attached to a vehicle whose engine is running or a charger as doing so can ruin the bike electrics. Ed
