Checking KZ1100 valve cover have question was created by 76KZ900
I'm going to have my valve cover chromed while I'm working on bike this winter. My question is how do I remove cam chain slider from inside of valve cover? I didn't look super close but I didn't see any obvious ways of removing it.

Hi 76,
that cam chain guide in the top of the valve cover is just a push fit, it has 2 holes in its upper face which locate in 2 spigots.
to remove ....gently prise it off the spigots from each end with a screwdriver ,it should just pop off.
Important to remember to slacken cam chain tensioner before re- fitting cover or chain will be over tight! leading to issues,, lots been written on that.
cheers, jon

I've had valve cover off twice and never did that. I'm not disputing the fact that it should be done The 1100 has the auto tensioner only way to loosen chain is to remove tensioner completely. Which isn't a problem.
Btw thanks for info. I didn't want to break the piece

I'd polish it instead. Chrome is nice, but it is gonna trap heat. R
