Alright I'm new here, and I'm stumped. I've got a 78 KZ400 that I've had for a while now. I've had clutch problems in the past and here we are again. Riding to class one day and I could barely shift. Gear shifter got really hard and was stuck in 3rd. So I hauled it home. Adjusted the cable both at the lever and at the adjustment screw. Went on 40 mile ride today and went to pull in the clutch and there was nothing at all. No resistance on the lever at all, it pulled straight in to the bars and didn't spring back. Tons of slack in the cable. I figured the cable disconnected inside the cover and the springs fell off as well. Got it home and apart, cable was still connected on both ends. So now my question is, did the cable get stretched that badly? Or am I looking at a more severe clutch problem here? Thanks for any input you can provide, I appreciate it.
