1980 kz250ltd oil in stator cover

Is this normal? I know some bikes have dry stators others have oil in there can anybody please tell me if the stator cover and stator is supposed to be full of oil?

In looking through the parts fishe I don't see any seals which would keep oil out.

I'm not sure on the 250, but on the inline fours, if the starter clutch is next to the alternator rotor, the stator cover will have some oil in it. If there is no starter clutch mated with the rotor, it will usually be completely dry.

I have a 1980 kz250 too and as far as I know its designed that way.
