Do I have to fully strip my engine to replace the crank shaft bearings (shells on conrod) wad hoping to just pull bottom case (sump) and do it in situe

It would help if you posted what model and year your bike is in your signature.....for example if it is an early 900/1000 you cannot do what you are asking, but may be able to on other bikes

Apologies kz440ltd 1981. It looks like I can drop the sump but I'm not 100% sure

Pretty sure you gotta split the cases to get at the bearings. And the majority of the time when the bearing shells go south the crank and rods are junk also.
