Head Choice ?

Have been riding my 77' KZ1000A for a while that I put back together , the one that was a non-runner basically basket case that hadn't ran since 88'. Have about 500 miles now and for the most part runs pretty well despite having measured low compression.

My question is now that I really like the bike, would like to challenge an engine rebuild.

A couple of the cylinder head fins are broken off around the outside spark plug holes but who knows how ?

I'm currently running a Vance/Hines 4 into 1 header and stock re-jetted 26mm carbs.

Is there a later better performance head out there that would work with my application ? Or should I just have the head rebuilt with better porting and valves ?

Like to run a larger big-bore kit , such as a 1075 kit or something better that would be suggested ?

Just trying to get a few ideas on how to approach the rebuild. Not intending on racing this bike, just a little better street performance.

Its funny. I went to Larry Cavanaugh's site. The GPZ head in the pic with the 38.6 and 33 exhaust valves, that's my head he did for me. Can't wait to get this thing running. It's gonna be on a 1327.
