Oil leaking at exhaust
15 Sep 2016 14:31
So my new problem I know I have an exhaust leak were the manifold bolts to the Motor on my number 1 piston not an issue I can fix that with ease what I'm worried about is there seems to be a substantial amount of oil leaking out from were the exhaust bolts to the Motor does anyone know what could be causing this issue?

I had exactly the same issue. Now don't ask me why but it is now fixed by re-shimming my exhaust valve. It could be that with yours or it could be a valve seal. Thing with mine is when I rebuilt my motor I replaced the valve seals so I knew that wasn't the cause. Now, if it is that and you decide to replace the seal make sure you push the seal right in so the wee spring covers the rubber on the guide. If you don't really make sure it's seated well...... it will pop off.

i'm also leaking oil outta my 82 kz1000s first valve, as well as one of the engine head bolts, so i'd really like to know what it ends up being for you.

Oil getting past the exhaust valve seal is probably escaping through the same place where the exhaust is leaking.
Eliminating the exhaust leak will likely also eliminate the oil leak.
One symptom of worn or leaking valve seals is exhaust smoke when the engine is started. And the exhaust smoke may continue for a mile or so while riding until the oil leakage into the header pipe has burned off. It's a fairly common condition that's usually not a critical issue.

Quick question on the same cylinder that I have oil and exhaust leak is a sleeve. When the motor is running I can see it vibrate is this a part that will need replacing or will a new exhaust gasket fix this problem

Split collar might be loose for whatever reason, or maybe installed backward.
Maybe the gasket is missing; or perhaps a new gasket is needed.

So the collar doesn't actually come in contact with the crush ring so I probably need a new one I've tried tightening the clamp thinking maybe it wasn't tight but it is good and tight thanks for the info
