Needing some advice was created by Hamman
Hey guys, I am about done with this freaking bike! Got the starter clutch replaced, all went well and sounds good. NOW cylinders 3 & 4 are dead. 1 & 2 run great and get nice and hot, the plugs on 1 & 2 also show good sign of running. 3&4 are still brand new looking, I can smell a very faint gas smell on it, but cannot confirm. When spraying the headers with water 1 & 2 sizzle, 3 & 4 the water just drips off. The bike has a Dyna ignition setup. I pulled the carbs, cleaned about 75 times in the last 2 days, check float level, etc... All 4 cylinders are getting good spark too. I don't have a compression test but held my thumb on all 4 plug holes and blows my hand off on all 4 consistently. It has a 4-1 system and pod filters. Stock Pilots at 35, mains at 70 and secondary's at 140. Thanks guys, I am completely stumped at this point. Seems like my coil wiring may be wrong? LH coil goes to 1-4, RH coil goes to 2--3. Just strange how the 3rd and 4th cylinders are dead, which makes me think its not ignition!!! AGGGGHHHH!!!!!

Have you checked to see if you've got a twisted crank?

I remember you have a 750/4 but cant remember year or model. If you could edit your profile and add that info to your signature it would help get better answers.
On my 1980 750E1 4 cyclinder each coil has a red wire and a coloured wire. On mine the green wire goes to the 2-3 coil which is on the left and the black wire goes to the 1-4 coil which is on the right. I just went out and lifted the tank on mine. Coil position does not matter but having the correct colour wire does.
Some cheap pods have an internal lip which can block the airjets (circled in red in the pic below) on the Keihin CV carbs causing problems
K&N pods dont.
I have used the same jetting as you when I had the K&N pods without problems
I wonder if you could try starting fluid? Not sure how to do that with pods but if you can then no start may indicate ignition problem and start may indicate carb problem
Good luck

Hey guys. It is a 1981 LTD H2 I believe. I have tried the black and green wires on both sides, with no difference. I am using K&N filters so those ports are open.

Also, I noticed on the carbs. Two of the carbs have dyno jet adjustable needles shimmed and on the 3rd notch and two of them are stock

Did you adjust the valves?
Did you remove the pilot jets and hold them up to the light to make sure they are open?
How far open are the pilot screws and did you remove them and shoot carb cleaner through them to assure the passages are open?
What jets are installed and are they compatable with the pods you installed. You need mains at least 3 sizes larger than stock and maybe different secondary jets too.

Thanks guys for the replies. finally figured it out! The black and green wires that lead to the coils had pretty much gone to $hit. I cut them back by about 2 inches and put on new connectors. Wammo firing on all 4. Now I have a high idle issue again. Brand new carb intake boots too. Starts awesome but immediately shoots up to around 3-4k. All clamps are crazy tight, diaphragms look good too. Thanks!
