Thanks for posting this Hamman. Great information.
If iI ever have to replace my starter clutch it's good to know that the EX500 parts will work. From other posts i've seen it seems to be a bear of a job.

No problem guys. But man, this poor bike. One thing after another! May just be a low charged battery, but its turning over super slow now giving me a all kinds of problems. Already tried a different starter solenoid. Might be time to rebuild the starter motor.

Maybe someone has some ideas. So we got the starter clutch replaced yesterday. All went smooth and dandy. Now with a full fresh charged battery, the starter motor spins fast, makes a faint mild "whine" sound but the engine itself is barely turning over. I can see on the ignition nut on the RH side, barley turns over. Hoping the starter clutch isn't binding, could be the starter motor going bad....

EDIT: Figured out something bad. The EX500 starter clutch is NOT the same as the KZ. I am lucky to have caught this early on. It was severely binding up not allowing the motor to turn over at its full capacity. Luckily the KZ clutch is good and I am going to use the new internals from the EX kit as those are the same. The screws for the EX are longer too so I had to shave those down. Nothing better than doing a starter clutch two days in a row! Getting this down to 30 min removal :) The KZ clutch is on the left, EX500 on the right, as you can see the 500 is not flat like the KZ, keeping it from seating fully and not being able to work as intended.

Right you are........ the first 13193 number is the same but the ex500 calls for the 1060 while the KZ650/750 calls for the 1062 part number....... looks like the pins, springs and rollers fit on the opposite side too but are apparently the same...... good job on figuring it out before you did more damage, You blue lock tite'd the oil pump bolt and 3 allens right..... sounds like a common problem them loosening (although mine were not just beat up up rollers, gear and weak springs.

Can't believe Ed or I missed the numbers not working out..... when I first read it I was thinking you read Z1 confirmed it.

Yeah, good thing lol. Yes, blue loctite on all 3 but still worked loose due to the clutch locking up I suppose. I am hoping the pins/rollers and springs will work out. Fit and spring good so we shall see!
