If you mean normal street use, stay pretty much stock.
One thing I noticed, and nobody else really ever talks about, is that when going from my stock 1015 ART pistons to the Wiseco 1075cc pistons, and after getting my jetting dialed in, I still noticed a slight drop in off idle torque takeoff from a dead stop in normal street driving.
I've assumed this was because the mass of revolving parts was lighter with the Wiseco kit and flywheel effect was less pronounced.
That could be illusionary. LOL!
However once up to around 3000-3500rpm and on, the engine felt like it rev'd a bit faster up to 7500-8500rpm
Plus I can ride in 5th gear at a slightly lower speed and RPM then I could with the ART pistons, with decent power to accelerate back up to faster traffic speeds.

A set of good cams will give you more right now. You can always go bigger later.

If you are having Larry C do your head work the only answer as to what components to use should come from Larry C.

Larry should be able to tell you what a proven combination for your bike will be from air cleaner thru exhaust and all parts in between

+1 on that!

Given the opportunity to do it over again, I'd pass. As it is, this one (and only) keeps turning out way-better than I ever imagined. If not for the encouragement to experiment from experts on this forum, it would never have started...and I would surely be the poorer for it.

Go for it, and put your trust in these guys! ;)

A street turbo air cooled engine? I'd say you might not enjoy that most of the time...

I'd stick to what Larry Cavanaugh recommends when you tell him what kind of riding you do, and how much performance you want..... and how much money you have to spend!

If you are trying to decide between hopping up a '72-'80 Z1/ KZ900/ KZ1000 vs. an 81 and up KZ1100LTD, hands down the 81 and later engines will give more performance potential and bang for the bucks spent. Even better if you can find one - 84 - 85 LTD1100 engines were the best of all the shafties....

2-04 R1, 81 CSR1000, 81 LTD1000, 2-83 GPz1100, 3-79CBX, 81 CBX, 3-XS650, 84 Venture, +parts
