KZ750 Crankcase won't close! was created by Saxobass
Hi all, I'm attempting to close the crankcase on my 1982 KZ750 H3. The front goes together fine but somewhere around the clutch basket area it is getting hung up and will not close all the way. What could be causing this and what can I do about it?

Are the bearing setting rings on the transmission bearings aligning with the grooves in the cases?

You know, I don't think they are lining up. How can I align them? And what do you mean by the right places Steve?

Turn the shift drum to neutral with the large fork fitting the center coller and line up the two small ones where they fit where they're supposed to be.

Also, I don't know about the 750, but the KZ1000/900 have dowel pins on some needle bearings as well as the setting rings. the rings should line up when the cases go together by just pushing the shaft either way (assuming all spacers are correct), and the dowels will only line up by turning the bearings dowel line up with the hole

First Permanent ride the Z1R since Dec1977 (220,000km) as of June 2015

Thank you all for your help! It turned out that the dowel pin holes were not aligned with dowels while the rings were pretty well aligned. My crankcase is whole again and thank you once again!
