82' Kz550 wont start!

I had my bike running at the beginning of the year. Since then it has sat for approximately 2 months. Before then it started up no problem. I have washed the bike since and now it has power to all electricals, however when I push the starter button no noise at all. But when the starter button is pushed the neutral light does dim slightly, which makes me think the problem is not in the switch itself.

Help please!!

It could be a weak or bad battery. I would charge it with a motorcycle battery charger, then check it with a digital multimeter & do a simple high beam load test. I use a Ctek US 0.8 smart charger ($49) & VC97 digital multimeter ($30). Radio Shack should have an inexpensive digital meter. The Scorpion AGM battery from batterystuff.com seems like a good one. I've had mine for about a year.

In regards to electricals, including the ignition system, always check the battery first.
The bike needs a good, fully charged battery to start and run right.
Also, the charging system's job is to keep a good battery charged, not to recharge a dead battery.
