If you take the cam cover off and not turn the motor over will it be ok to put the cover back on without removing the cap and spring? I just replaced the cam cover gasket and didn't take the cap and spring out.

The cap is 17mm hex. Use a socket with extension is it will be off in 10 seconds. Why in the world wouldn't you want to do this?

BTW, once the spring is out be sure to pull back on the wedge to make sure it's not jammed in too tight. After the valve cover is installed just put the spring and cap back on and done. It couldn't be simpler.

I didn't realize it needed to be done that way.
I'll take the cover back off and do it like it should have been done.
Thank you
