putting a 5/8" outboard support on my 77 KZ1000A. Im running a jackshaft 300 Myrtle West arm I got a HELL of a deal on. To bring the front sprocket out far enough to lineup with the jackshaft on the arm, I need to run 5/8"counter sprocket. I know that D&G sells the outboard. I didnt know if anyone else does. Question is, am i going to be able to use stock footpegs, even if i have to machine a little off of the back of the support plate? Any pics and advice is greatly appreciated. Im coming to the advice of the KZ world. thanks guys for all the info that is put here every day. Tom

You should have no problem reusing the stock pegs. If I remember correctly, the plate sits close to flush with the outside of the frame. I know it still keeps the splines on the shift shaft exposed to give you relative placement.

Dave does excellent work at D&G and he knows his stuff. Pretty much bought one of everything he makes for the KZ besides frame and swing arms.

mocked up. are the weld on bungs a required thing. this will give some support as is. Im not running a slick but this is the first bike ive had to do outboard support. my other bike had a 3/8" and ran a race compound K591 Dunlop 180 tire with a 1385 motor and raced it a few times at drag strip with not a single issue. D&G is quality stuff. Love the look and the fit. my brother has access to a milling machine to make a few little alteraions so i can use the stock footpegs in stock location.

You wouldn't have to weld them though it wouldn't be difficult to do. I was advised by Dave at D&G that if you are running a bike on the street with upto a 5/8" offset, that an outboard support really wasn't required, but doesn't hurt. You do have a lot of rubber back there....lol
