Throttle cable length? was created by carwash
I recently put some lower CB400 bars on my '80 KZ550A, the throttle cables still work but are a little long so I thought I'd go ahead and get some shorter ones.
Z1 has these listed as stock cables for the bike, www.z1enterprises.com/product/TU06-3001 , they recommend these cables for lower bars, which are about 3" shorter, www.z1enterprises.com/product/TU06-1233 .
Great I thought, and ordered two from a Motionpro dealer.
I received these cables and they are waaaay longer than the stock cables? At least 6" longer.
Am I missing something?
Even the stock cables Z1 has listed at 43.5" would be considerably longer than whats on my bike now.

Perhaps the existing cables aren't stock length and are already shorter than stock.

Would determine length needed by measuring the existing cables, then calculating actual length desired for the configuration at hand, and ordering accordingly.

The Z1E folks are old hands at this, and likely have good advice as to which shorter cable would be best for the particular application at hand. And the actual measurements involved could assist toward confirming the alternate cable selection.

Good Fortune! :)
