What happens when I take this off? was created by tri650
I found the source of my oil leak for my 82 Gpz 750. I know this is the secondary shaft bearing cap from the manual. Before I took it off I wanted to make sure oil would not come pouring out or stuff flying everywhere. I am assuming there is a gasket or seal that must be malfunctioning because I get a slow drip from this spot.

I "think" the bottom edge of the cap is above the oil level. You could always tilt the bike a little to the right if it's not.
BTW, the cap has an O-ring on it.

Thanks. I am happy that I found the source and it didn't involve the pan. I'll check the o-ring.

I replaced that O ring last year. Lost a little oil in the process but had an oil change tray beneath so no big deal. Maybe 50cc.
Just took a minute or 2 to whip the cover out, replace the O ring and stick it back in again
