Noticed pinging .. detonation under hard acceleration. I use 93 octane and its helped but hasnt got rid of it. Ive checked timing its spot on. Even the advance mechanism is working right. Bike has average compression psi with what im assuming is factory pistons.. Bike does have a dyna s ignition. Anyone else run into this and what did you do to correct it ? Thanks

Sounds more like preignition to me.
Could be bad plugs but most likely carbon build up in the combustion chamber, valve heads or piston domes.

I wonder if the gasoline brand has anything to do with it. My bike started running odd just after putting different gas in yesterday, and I noticed subtle pre ignition a couple times when pulling away from stops today. :pinch:

My worn KZ engine had a spark knock from carbon build up. I quieted it down temporarily (and periodically) with top engine cleaner. Tune-up in a can.

Additives can and will harden rubber seals. There is no substitute for replacing them and using the right type of oil. If they are leaking, there is a reason for it.

Chevron Techron in a can is reputed to be good stuff. It wouldn't hurt to run some through the engine on the next few tanks (until the can is gone). You also might want to retard the ignition a little. With a Dyna S you may have the ignition advanced a little unless you checked it with a timing light at full advance (engine running).

Timing checked at full advance.. its perfect.. Carbon build up likely makes most sense. Thanks Ill go the sea foam route.

I've never had much luck with any of those products when it comes to combustion chamber cleaning of an assembled and running engine.
I think a good and hot engine with cold water and rubbing alcohol mix sprayed in the open carbs, at medium low throttle might be just as good.
I found some combustion chamber cleaning fluid from Chrysler that worked well with the head off!! Nice stuff but messy.
