KZ400 fork seal replacement was created by Oldercrow
I got some new fork seals and a fork seal removal tool from Z1 but when I removed the forks I got stuck on the part where you have to use a long hex/socket to hold the inner bolt while removing the hex/allen bolt from the bottom of the forks.

I ordered a long 36" set of socket extensions. Does anyone know if the inner bolt is a 6mm hex like the bottom or a 19mm socket like some have suggested?

Thanks for any information!

The best thing to use is an impact. If you don't have access to compressed air I've heard the electric impacts will work too. Never tried one...
I've also used a piece of broom handle wedged into the inner bolt in a pinch...

Take a look at kzrider.com/forum/21-tools/318027-budget...linder-holder#318027 for some info about holding the fork cylinder. If yours is like mine it does not have a hex depression. Another option is the center top tool at this link: www.racetech.com/page/id/70 Ed

Leave the fork cap and spring installed and attempt to remove the lower bolt. The spring pressure holds the damper. If the bolt still spins try compressing the fork a little while removing the bolt. I always crack the bolt loose with hand tools first then go to the impact.
