Clutch rod was created by G-Force
I have quick question. What does the clutch rod do and is it lubricated with engine oil. Thanka

It disengages the clutch when the clutch lever is squeezed. It will get a little oil, hence the need for a seal.
As Swest suggests, a genuine factory service manual is important.

My clymers manual doesn't say much about it in the clutch section.the reason I asked is it feels gritty when Lrof it pushed in.Tried to flush with wd40 but still gritty.I thought if remove the clutch basket mabe can be cleaned from there.

Take off the sprocket cover and clean, grease the actuator.

Including information about bike year and model is helpful to viewers and usually elicits better responses.
It's easy to put the information in your signature where it shows in all posted messages, past and future.
And the signature may be changed whenever and as often as desired.
If wanting a signature showing information about the bike in posted messages, it's easy to do.
Here's how:
For a free downloadable KZ750 4-cyl service manual, use this link, and scroll down to "The Bible" ---

Ya know when you beat the snot out of these bikes!
I have had the rod weld itself to the stock ball bearing behind the clutch basket and the OEM parts.
Hence the roller bearing fix they sell for the pusher

You get a gritty feeling when squeezing the lever? If so, it is more likely the lever pivot, cable, and/or the actuator. Sometimes a great deal of chain lube and grit can cause the left end of the shaft to hang up on the seal.
