How do I know when the valves need adjusting? And, what should the clearance be? And, how do I check the clearance?

Also, the bike was in storage for about 4 years. No preventative measures were taken prior to storage. When, I returned the bike back to racing, I discovered the bike is not as crisp. I sent Lectrons carbs to Fast by Gast and had them serviced. The oil was changed and plugs were changed, etc. The bike is better, but not as before. The bike will still run the Super-Comp numbers, just not as crisp, as before. Any suggestions??

What cams? Assuming aftermarket, you gotta get the valve lash requirements from the cam maker. Also, are the buckets shim over or shim under?

The factory service manual details how to position the cams before measuring lash.

Valve clearances want to be around 0.18mm to 0.20mm for racing and you really need to check them before and after every meet as part of a strict maintenance schedule .
Buy a manual for servicing procedure.

AH......... That's my old bike :woohoo: valves should be checked once a year, new valve springs every year , clutch pulled and checked daily, pan pulled twice a year or after clutch replacement, piston rings once a year, crank after 200 passes and on and on.
