Stripped thread on engine mount bolt was created by Bowman
I see a long tedious session with a drill in my near future but maybe somebody here has some ideas.

When I put the engine back in after painting the frame I just snugged up the mount bolts (it was late autumn, wasn't going to really start putting it back together till spring. Today I took out the torque wrench to button it up properly and it was all good till I got to the lower rear mount bolt. Hell if I know how it happened but I can't get the nut to tighten or loosen. The bolt and nut just spin freely through the mount hole.

There's some thread visible (1/8" or so) at the nut end and I can spin the nut both ways with my fingers while holding the bolt head in place with a wrench. First I thought I'd sheared the bolt but I can't pull it out in two pieces and if I don't hold the bolt head steady with a wrench then spinning the nut just spins the bolt head. Flummoxed I am.

Try getting something under the head, a screw driver blade or similar, so you can pry it in an outward direction while at the same time turning it anti clockwise. Sometimes you can strip the thread, but that doesn't mean it's free to just come out, but neither does it have the thread for it to unscrew.

I'd lock the bolt in place and unscrew the nut while prying up with a screw driver. If you catch a thread you're home free.

Hmmm... Maybe if I get an ally to grab the bolt head with a vice grip and pull like a mule I could get the nut to grab the thread and wrench it loose?

ETA no room or angle to get a screwdriver blade in. I'll post pics tomorrow when its light out if I'm still stuck. You guys are the best.

If you can tap on a screw driver enough to get under the nut and or lock washer, you might catch a thread.

I did something similar. The lower mount bolts are different lengths. Don't put the longer one in the smaller spot. I stripped the nut right on the bolt while tightening to the engine stand. I chiseled the bolt and had one similar sized on hand. R

HOORAY!!! :) That's pretty close to how I imagined the state of the thread, based on the symptoms.

It pays to marry a Saskatchewan farm girl. They think nothing of it when you ask them to hold this wrench and haul on this pry bar.
