Engine clicks. was created by car5car
There is clicking sound every 2-4 seconds when engine is cold.
It is definitely not rattling chain.
Any ideas?

take a screw driver and put the tip on the engine where you think you hear the clicks coming from. then put the screwdriver handle right on your ear hole. you'll have a better time determining where the sounds are coming from this way.

not sure what your calling clicks but mine always had some noise and every time i would have someone listen they would say its normal.
but now that i finally got the carb tuning and spark advance dialed in most of what i was hearing is gone.

Another thought is the valves could be clicking until heated up. i think this will be more pronounced if they have too much clearance.

if its popping then I assume its running lean,
when i got mine it cracked and popped especially when cold . and yep it was lean and had carb issues. now the popping is in the past.
also popping can be caused by leaking carb boots or other air leaks. and yes exhaust leaks.

I am pretty sure my bench synchronizing was not good enough. I'll check vacuum and type results here.

The clicks could be the air injectors you just capped off.
