I just picked up a set of 4 into 1 mac headers for my '81 KZ550. Now i need a muffler. What sort of things should I take into consideration? I like the look of the shorty (12") reverse cone that Dime City sells.
Also, there is no shortage of Ducati mufflers out there because first thing Ducati owners do is get a new exhaust. I think one of those larger canister looking mufflers from a Ducati would look good, any reason that wouldn't work?

any info and/or ideas appreciated!

Two big considerations will be the inlet size compared to the size of the pipe you have, and you will have to fabricate a muffler hanger. Neither of these is a complicated problem.
If the back pressure of the new can is radically different than what has been on the bike, some carb tweaking may be needed.

Probably going to get the headers powder coated, so I'd like to get the muffler, mounts, etc.. all welded up first.
I'm leaning toward the cone engineering reverse cone, not sure of length yet.
