I Have a 1982 KZ1100 shaft. The engine is a J-model. Will a Z1 head fit? Or what will. I'm in a bad spot and need my bike fixed for anger management. " it helps me calm down" ha-ha. I have some other head options but just wanna kno it'll work. I got ripped off by a local shop for $800 then a few months later i lost my job don't have alot of cash to play with. New shop said full head rebuild and piston kit around $1300 just in parts. Need help!!

I would say no, because the timing chain is different on the J model and I don't think you'd have the right set up even if you changed things like cam sprockets etc. Perhaps someone else knows more for it to be a complette "no, no" I know J heads are swapped on to the older motors with some modifications, so it might come down to whether it's desirable or the simplest route to fix your problem. What's wrong with the existing head?, a lot of shops charge silly money to do that sort of thing, when often it can be done in your garage with some grinding paste, a few basic parts and some perseverance.
