I found a pretty nice exhuast for the SR, wondering if anyone has had any experience with MAC exhausts before.

I run a 2-1 on a 750 twin and I think it's pretty good.

I have a black mac 4 into 1 on my 1980 750/4 E1 and I like the sound. It was on the bike when I bought it so am guessing it's at least 15 years old. The only complaint I have is that the flanges on mine are made of soft metal and will bend easily on the studs if tightened to much. I have heard that this is or was the case with some but not all mac's.

Looks like a good price. If you purchase it then use new exhaust gaskets when installing and go very easy when tightening the nuts which hold the flange on the studs. Use small wrench or small -4 inch?-:ratchet handle and don't over tighten. If nuts are over tightened the flanges may bend and the studs distort and you get exhaust leak and popping.

You may be lucky and find mac corrected that problem on the newer exhausts.

For a few more dollars you can get a Delkevic header exhaust system, It's very well constructed out of all Stainless steel, you don't have to worry about chrome peeling off or paint chipping or peeling, & will never rust
here's one on my friends 1000

Nice bike Pete. How long is that swing arm?
If I were to get another 4/1, it will be one of those.

I believe it's about 4 inches longer that stock, & it's a Cal Fab from back in the day
& yes, It's too bad Delkevic wasn't around about 6 yrs. ago when I bought my V/H , I've only gotten caught in the rain about 5-6 times since then & I'm getting some surface rust by the collector

My new one is about 1 1/2" longer. Glad I took a close look at yours. Shock mounts will have to be in a different place. My pipes are getting rusty too.

It seems like that muffler would be awfully long on the Delkevic system without the extended swing arm, or is that a n optical illusion from the photo?

Foe some reason i had something coming from ebay yesterday for a Mac 4-1 for about $290 including shipping, but I agree about paying the extra for a stainless steel one if your budget allows.

I believe it's about as long as the Bassani header I had on my 1000, looks like 3-4 inches longer than the V/H

the Kerker on my 900, is also about 3-4 inches longer than the V/H

By the way, the Delkevic pipe is only 300.00 - 325.00

I've always preferred the shorter look on 4-1 setups. It's a shame so many manufacturers seem to have no pictures of their products actually mounted to the various models available to view. Used systems sell for quite a bit on eBay so changing from a mint V&H to a Stainless Delkevic is not out of the question, but I haven't seen one on a stock(ish) KZ1000 to compare the look. They always appear like a copy of the Kerker style to me.

And Delkevic pipe prices have dropped now you remind me, I've seen them close to $300 whereas they were $400.

Anyone any idea on the performance provided by the Delkevic pipes. Back in the day some of the 4-1's lost you a lot of HP,

I have one of these S.S. MotoGpwerks pipe that I bought a couple of yrs. ago that is going on my 900 as soon as I get the engine rebuilt, it was over 550.00 delivered, so for 250.00 less, the Delkevic is a good deal
