Purchase new NGK plug caps
Caps unscrew from wires. Wires unscrew from coils.
Squirt a little WD-40 underneath the outer wire protection sheath and pull them off.
Cut new wire to length and install protection sheath over top of new inner wires.
Screw on new plug caps and attach wires to coils.
Crack a beer and toast completion of another project.

You mean only the ngk caps unscrew or is that common for all spark plug wire ends?

The NGK caps like the ones pictured unscrew. Last I checked you could still buy them from O'Reilly Auto parts. There are other types of spark plug ends but they are the crimp on type and require a special crimper to do them correctly.
Additionally, your coils may be different. The coils I had on my 77 KZ1000A1 had the wires permanently attached. Can you post a picture?
