wisco piston kit please advise was created by aviliora
I have kawasaki kz1000j1-1981.
done 120000km,all still original state,
i need to fit a new pistons and have the option to buy from N.Z the R1075 wisco piston kit, this kit is for z1-z1000 the old engine not the J engine I have, 1075cc,12;1
my question is,can i use it?I know the piston pin hole high is deffrent between the engines so i need to use a thicker base gasket, what about the compression ratio 12;1 can i reduce it? because the bike going to be a normal road bike with out any carb modification or crank welding .tnx

12:1 is a race kit, maybe too much for road use. You could stack the base gaskets or use a thicker one to reduce CR, at a risk of oil leaks.
Modest CR tends to run smooth and cool, going from 10:1 to 12:1 is nothing like a 20 percent power gain, also you may need to use an octane booster if running pump gas. Hopefully someone who has done this 1075 12:1 kit will chip in.
