Just some background...and I'm totally open and encourage suggestions. My bike has been sitting a long time. I recently cleaned the carbs and now in the process of adjusting the little buggers to get the bike to idle, ect. I have clean fuel and new manifolds. I've done a quick measure on a couple of valve clearances and I need to adjust them. Should I get the carbs set first before I mess with the head or maybe just send the head and out for proper evaluation? I'm wondering if I'll be chasing perceived carb issues caused by potential bad valve settings? Way back when, I had a guy do a valve job. I have never been confident he did a good job. I basically want the engine to run properly and accomplish that in a sensible order.

Carb adjustment should come last. Valve adjustment and head work will change the vacuum signal to the carbs, necessitating adjustment.
