82 KZ1100 newb question was created by xxgrizzlybearxx
Hello guys. I defer to your knowledge. I have just picked up a great garage find that's been stored for years. I've put some work in but just want to get it all together before I try ti fire her up.

I have a question I'm at a loss. I know I need to get a Clymers soon but haven't gotten to it just yet. In the pic, there's a threaded hole to the crank area.(not the missing crank vent hose above the tranny I already know I'll need to filter that. Is this for a breather hose? I can't see where it would connect to on the moto/carb unless it's just missing. Everything looks pretty complete short of the starter solenoid and that hose. I HAVE seen a few KZ1100 that there's just a bolt in there, and some where there's a hose running out of it and up near the carb area.

Thanks for the help!

Needs to be a plug there, that's the oil galley for the motor. Should be able to find one on here. BUT I'm not seeing any threads in there which can definitely be an issue

The bikes with a hose running there is usually for an oil cooler.

That is supposed to have a plug in it or you will get an oil bath when you start it up. It is also a good place to put an oil pressure gauge if you so desire.

Nice you guys rock. Anyone know the size metric that goes in? I can run down and grab a bolt that'll hold up against that rubber washer. Definitely anxious to get her running and then purring.

EDIT
answered my own question with a search. I believe it's a 14mm.

Do yourself a favor, & don't waste your money on a Clymer or Haynes manual, & get a KAWASAKI workshop/service manual, for your specific year & model bike, you wont regret it, there are many for sale on e-bay
