Whip it like a mule!
Carb mount stripped. was created by dom2570
I noticed the other day that I have a leaking carb boot. I removed the boot and discovered that the threads were stripped.
Would a helicoil do the job or is this a bit more delicate?

I took my carbs off today to change the pilot jet size and fit some different float bowls without the accelerator pump. I also had some almost new boots that I swapped for the ones that were on there. Someone had cranked the bolts in pretty tight and I was worried about something breaking, which did cause me to notice there's plenty of metal in that area, should a repair like a helicoil be needed. I also had some stainless steel allen head bolts to replace the unplated ones that were rusting, someone had previously used. The correct fasteners are 6x18mm, on a KZ1000 at least, what bolts were used on yours?. it would seem very hard to strip 15mm or so of thread even with brute force, are the fasteners connecting you boots long enough? there may be good thread you could pick up on with a longer bolt - just a thought.

It might be worth trying a longer bolt if the holes in the head are deeper. What bike do you have?
