81 KZ650-CSR with 750E muffler system.
Are there any muffler baffles & end plates that are a good fit for the stock megaphone mufflers?
My right side muffler has a rattle & I'm pretty sure the guts have a broken weld or are starting to rust out or something.
The exhaust system is in very good condition otherwise, so I'd like to salvage it. Thanks.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI was looking at an exhaust mod on one of my bikes and searched exhaust baffles, it seemed there were a whole load of baffle tubes available in different lengths and diameters. If you can remove the end cap and fish the loose part out, it would be pretty easy to construct something to hold one of these tubes in place. Here's a random example from ebay. Search "exhaust baffle" under motorcycle parts and there are hoards of them.

Also perhaps something like this:

Those 80's KZ exhausts did have a habit of falling apart inside. My 81 Z1000J had the baffle fall off the end cap and drop inside, that was 1982 and with only 7k miles. I got a new muffler under warranty, but it always bugged me that they'd changed the design of the end cap so they weren't matching when viewed from the rear.

Thanks. Until today, I hadn't done much serious checking to see what's available. J&P Cycles is the only place I've looked around so far, but nothing really jumped out at me as an obvious choice. doh. I was hoping to get something that's a good fit & similar to the stock sound. ie, not too loud. And easy. I like easy. :)

I will watch the thread to see if anyone else knows the answer, but I'd be surprised if anything drops right in. When I was 17 I had a CB175 Honda that someone had rodded the baffles out of it was very loud. I packed the end of the baffles with Goldilocks pan scourers and filled the end with a home made metal disk secured by bondo, it lasted the life of the bike. Quietened it down no end, but still had a better sound than stock.

The folks at the link below offer a bunch of different exhaust system parts including baffles. They might have something that is a close fit. Ed

Hey All, anyone used the Mack competition baffel for their kerker 4 into 1 ? Wondering how it sounds, and fits. I'm looking for a near open sound but want some back pressure.

Emgo & Helix racing have Dunstall replica mufflers that're similar to stock, but I didn't see any baffles for them at J&P Cycles or JC Whitney. Right now the problem is just a minor intermittent rattle at idle that's always been there, but it's bound to get worse sooner or late. It's a nice used 750E exhaust system that I installed a couple of years ago.

Martin-csr this is probably why so many end up with a 4 into 1 or similar, If you have a nice original exhaust system like I do for my KZ650, there's s lot to be said for hanging it up in the garage and using something aftermarket for general everyday use.

I already have a nos csr exhaust system in storage, so I'd rather not add to the clutter.
I'm kinda overstocked on parts as it is. hee.
