Stripped Kick Start Lever ''79 KZ750B was created by kro10000
So last time I had the engine somewhat apart I decided to remove the electric starter drive chain since the starter never worked, and I had heard stories of bad starter clutches locking up the engine. So this is a kick start only bike, which worked fine (apart from a scratched and bruised right leg) until Saturday when I went to kick the bike and the lever went down and didn't come up. When I looked down I saw aluminum shavings all around the kick start shaft coming out of the engine :( . Apparently the clamp bolt had worked itself loose. Anyway I would go to replace the part but the bastion of old KZ parts (ebay motors) has left me only one option, which is old and beat up for what I'd consider an exorbitant price ($40+$10 shipped) for the condition. I've heard of a fix which involves drilling into the shaft and lever boss sideways with the bit going into both halfways and tapping for a bolt, but I don't particularly like the idea. Does anyone know of a source where I can find either the lever and boss, or just the boss? Also on a somewhat related note, the kick start spring has lost much of its tension, and I remember reading somewhere that it is a royal PIA to replace but my memory is foggy, is this true?

Thanks in advance!

Send kz10006 a P.M. & tell him what you need, I believe a kickstart pedal from a KZ 750 will also work
