Shop Servicing the cops bikes ........ valve jobs at 18,000 why not when our taxes (or their community) will pay for it.

Sounds like a sales pitch. I'd vote with my feet.

in response to the original question about what heads and jugs will swap...
anything from 77-80 will directly bolt on.
earlier 73-76 900 stuff can be used but you have some minor part differences and small things that may need addressed.

Maintenance on emergency vehicles is always a lot more than commercial. They get the most severe service and they want to reduce the chance of failure as low as possible. They still have the "3 month or 3000 mile" severe service maintenance for oil change in the owners manuals for cars that do mostly city driving although most people ignore that.

Yeah, they don't like it if we bring in our unit after 3000 miles. It's because they use to keep it for two weeks. Now it's the next day.
