1979 KZ650 D2 Service Manual

I'm trying to find a service a manual for a 1979 KZ650 D2. I had to take apart the engine to knock a piston loose that was seized. I need to know how to set the cam chain timing. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Is Clymer a proper service manual for this bike. The title is "1977-1983 Kawasaki KZ650D SR Repair Manual Clymer M358 Service Shop Garage:"

I wouldn't bother with the Clymer or Haynes manuals. The Kawasaki Service Manuals that include the 1979 KZ650-D2 can be identified by their part numbers. Both "99924-1007-02" and ""99924-1007-03" include the US model KZ650-D2. The list of models can be seen on the back cover - be sure to check that it covers your specific model. The front cover has a green KZ650 on it as shown below. Be sure to get the correct one since there are big differences between the various KZ650 years & models. Ed

BE CAREFUL. Take a look at the back cover of the manual in that eBay listing. It shows the KZ650-D2 is "OTHER THAN US MODEL". I don't know what the differences are, but if your bike is a US model that manual may not cover everything exactly the same (possibly such as wiring diagrams). I would try to get a manual with one of the two part numbers I listed above since they specify the D2 US model on the back cover. Ed
