What rpm at speed? was created by Turbo99397
So I'm running about 4000 rpm ish at 60mph in top gear. Idk how the bike is geared but Ist shaft drivin. Suposedly previous owner geared it but idk speedo cable is broken. Just wondering abt what typical top speeds are in each gear being 5th gear 4k rpm is abt 60. Thanks

There is no typical maximum speed in each gear, it varies from model to model. I've never heard of non-stock gear sets for shaft drive bikes. Speedometer cables are cheap, you should buy one.

I was at 55 at 3500 RPM with the 16 tooth sprocket. Now I have a 15 but the speedo doesn't work at all. I'd say 4000 now. I don't know what's normal for a shaft.

Seems to me years ago, when my speedo was newer and more accurate, that my 15/35 combo gave me about 60-62 mph at 4000 rpm.

"Supposedly previous owner geared it." ... I'd guess he fibbed, but shaft drive stuff is kinda mysterious, so it's hard to say --- I've never seen anything about changing transmission sprockets or bevel gears or anything like that on any of those models.

The 81-83 1100 A1-A3 is loaded into the database at GearingCommander .
The stock gearing is listed as 10/36. ??? The default units are metric, so you'd probably want to select mph.

Just my 2 cents here, my stock gearing GPz is turning about 5500@75mph. 15/35 sprockets and .88:1 top gear

Ya the old he did this and that is more than likely bs.. but the suspension was upgraded, it rides telly decent. I put a new electronic ignition on it new plugs, dude had pods so I fought and still am fighting that, it's got a kerker 4 to 1 also... so the speedo cable hasn't been bought yet. I'd like to run a 140 mph speedo, is that interchangeable? It has the 80 mph one on it right now
