Hello all, I'm ready to install 410 cams in a 76 kz900 converted to a 1075 with MKII crank and 32 tooth sprockets with 124 link chain. Can anyone explain the setting procedure for these cams, sprockets, and chain?

Once you have them set up according to the factory specs, aftermarket camshaft manufacturers recommend fine tuning, or dgreeing the cams.

This won't be covered in the manual, You need to dial - in the cams, using slotted timing gears. Getting the cam grind spec would be a good start. It will be lift, duration and recommended lobe centre angles. A printout of the lift for each degree of cam would be useful too.

This is the numbers I'm looking at on a 550 project: 107 degree lobe centres, 0.342 lift, 236 degree duration at .040 lift, timing 11-45 , 45-11 @ .040 lift. Valve shim clearances .007 /.009" A mild fast road cam, with a bit of extra lift and a few degrees more duration .

You also need to check piston to valve clearance using blu tac or similar, IIRC you need 1mm minimum. Valve cutouts in your custom pistons may be deep enough, otherwise they need fly cutting for more valve relief.

Also check your valve to valve to valve clearances on the overlap period near TDC when both valves are open. IIRC you need 1.5mm minimum, I made a graph of the lift for both valves during the overlap period, then will measure directly the clearance for various crank position. Time consuming and quite complex.

12.5 : 1 sounds really high, what fuel are you planning on using?

If that 410 Andrews is a drag cam then it will be long duration and high lift, so extra care is needed assembling this when using hot cams and high compression pistons to avoid bending a bunch of valves.
