kickstart issue

Recently my kickstart wont engage on my 1976 kz400, when i push down on it it no longer turns the pistons or anything, does anyone have any imput that can help me out??

Is that all you've been using?

You aren't pulling in the clutch lever, are you? Ed

Many of the early KZ 400s were kickstart only.

There are several things that can go wrong, and the only way to know for certain is to take it apart. PLEASE be sure you have a factory service manual on hand. The mechanism is a bit more complicated than you might imagine and it is easy to to put it back together incorrectly.
