The rings need to reseat. The rubber is 30 years old. I'd put in new rings but that's not my call. The rubber needs to be replace no matter what.

New rings for sure. Don't go cheap on the valve seals get Viton seals they resist more heat and are more resistant to Ethanol mixed fuel.
