Not moving, transmission, clutch ? was created by originalhandy
Ok I have a 1980 Kawasaki 750 LTD.
A good while back I was riding it and it quit moving. It changes gears, from neutral to first but didn't move at all.

The chain and sprocket seem to be no issues there.

Bike rolls no problems, under 20k on the bike too.

Also I had a Clymer manual but misplaced it, does anyone know a good place to download a manual ? TIA.

One possibility could be that the counter shaft sprocket has loosened, which allows the sprocket to spin on its shaft.

For downloadable manual,

Good Fortune! :)

I would do a basic clutch adjustment as per the owner's manual. And the cable may need replacing.
If the bike is a 750-4, the service manual may be ambiguous or wrong about what direction to turn the clutch release adjusting screw. It should be turned counterclockwise first until hard to turn, then clockwise 1/4 turn, then tighten the locknut. It's kind of counterintuitive.

Wow that's a relief for me. The manual for mine says turn the screw IN (CW) but when I do that there was no resistance at all. Turn it out (CCW) and it feels good. I was worried I was doing something wrong lol.

Does the manual actually say clockwise or are you assuming that's what it says?
Some manuals I've seen don't give the direction, they just say In until hard to turn then Out 1/4 or 1/2 turn.
if it says CW first, then clymer is wrong for the 750-4. CW is correct for some models, I think mostly from the 70s.

CCW is in, so the Kawasaki pdf manual is actually correct --- the screw must be left-hand-threaded,
When you turn the screw until hard to turn, that's the point in which the clutch is just starting to release, so the screw has to be turning in, and since CCW is in, it must be LH. I guess that's right.
