1979 KZ650 Seat Fairing Mounting

I recently bought a new seat and pan for my 79 KZ650, and found that it was slightly different than the (destroyed) original that I had. The new one was not flat like the old one, but rather curved up at the rear of the bike. I didn't want to spend more money on another seat, so instead I looked into it, and found that there is a fairing for bikes with this seat pan. I went ahead and ordered the fairing, and once it arrived, I realized I have NO idea how to mount it to the bike. Does anyone have this fairing, or have pictures of a bike with it that can show me how it is supposed to be mounted before I do any modifications on my own?

Sounds like you have a '79 kz650 SR (D model), which has a painted rear fender, and no plastic tail piece.
B, C & F model 650s did come with the rear tail.
To mount one to your D model, you will need to attach/make mounts, as the D model does not have these.
The rear loop on the frame is slightly different too.

Others have mounted a tail to a D model, so it can be done.

You can see the different 650 models here:

I have a 650D, Do you happen to have any photos of the other models so that I can see the difference in the frame loop?
