Please help identify mystery bushing KZ750H!
01 Jun 2015 13:12
Hello again everyone. I have an '82 KZ750H 4 cyclinder that I have slowly been rebuilding. The most recent project has been repairing the starter clutch. When taking out the oil pump, the phillips heads stripped - even using an impact screwdriver. So I drilled the heads off and then tapped out the bolts. My problem is that while tapping a mystery bushing fell out of the bottom of the engine. I can't see any logical place for it to go. The secondary shaft was still in, so it isn't from that. I have looked over many parts diagrams and I just can't figure it out. It looks similar to the clutch basket bushing, however that bushing is still there. I took a picture and posted below, if you know what it is please reply. Thanks so much!

Could it be one of the 2 knock bushings (pins) that holds the oil pump in........ Do you have a manual..... for my "650" it shows they are in the 2 holes closest to the 10mm bolt that holds the oil pump in too.
There should be 2 knock pins for the clutch cover too but I'm betting its from where you were tapping.

Hard to tell the size in the picture. Perhaps its the countershaft sprocket spacer?

Thanks for the help, I think I've settled on a spacer that goes on the outside of the secondary shaft on the opposite side of the bike. It makes the most sense, and I guess it's conceivable that it fell off the other side of the bike and bounced underneath. When it happened it just seemed like it fell straight out of the engine. I hope it's correct!
