Points housing? was created by spdygon

Pic above is the points housing.
When I removed those two screws....little oil came out...do I need to put some gasket sealer when I reinstall them.
I have a Manuel but did not find anything on that.
Thx

Don't think sealer is required. Probably won't hurt anything if you do.

Hmmm... I am under the impression that there should be no liquid oil coming out from under that cover.... If yes, I would think you have a case crack or a crank end seal leak. Etc

There was no oil inside at all. Only when I removed those two screws very little on the tips.
I'll use some non Harding sealent.
Thx

There is oil behind the inner cover. There should be no oil between the inner and outer points covers.

Looking at the parts diagram should show a gasket behind the inner cover and an oil seal in the middle of the cover. The only reason there is a gasket between the inner and outer covers is to keep out the elements.

There's a drain hole at the bottom. You need a seal or there's something a miss with the housing. Now that I don't have points, it doesn't matter if moisture gets in.

2 of the top holes from the points housing are drilled right trough into the case at the factory. You can use yamabond on those 2 screws.

Wait a minute. Do you mean the outside screws where your fingers are? The gasket should seal them.

Well as I waited for complete engine gasket kit to arrive. ...over the last week still notice oil coming from the top holes.
Went back over my 77-78 Kawasaki Manuel and found that the top three do need non-permanent locking agent.
