Kz1100 engine model compatibility?

Hey guys,
I've got a 1983 kz1100-L1 LTD that's in need of an engine rebuild. I've come across a guy on Craigslist selling a "rebuilt" kz1100 engine from an 81 kz1100-A1. My question is, will this engine work as a direct swap for my 83 ltd??? They're both shaft and from what I understand in my clymers manual, are the same engine. Will this work without a lot of hassle.
Looking for some quick replies so I can jump on it if it works. Thanks in advance guys!

Yes it will fit however I would not buy a "rebuilt" engine from anyone unless they are a reputable shop. Be very cautious and check it out really good. Ask to see receipts on parts used, check the compression. Ask what type of oil is in it and back that up with receipts of said oil. Make sure all the seals are new, you can tell the difference between old ones and new ones. Make sure it shifts through all the gears, make sure the output shaft turns smoothly in neutral, no oil leaks, Ask what the head bolts were torqued to, if he says anything other than between 27 and 30 ft. pounds he doesn't know what he is doing and I would walk away. If there are signs of heavy silicone use, walk away.

Thanks for your reply. The biggest problem with the whole thing is that the engine is pulled and I don't have the option to hear it run or even run a compression test on it. I'll more than likely not buy it because of the lack of reliable info on it, I'd hate to spend a couple hundred bucks on a hunk of scrap metal
