Kerker for '82 GPZ1100 was created by rixtrix
Hi guys. Been a while since I've posted-still working on semi-restoring my 82 GPZ1100. I had a 4 into 1 that I planned to put on but the metal is so thin it has stress cracked and no longer viable. SO- I've been looking at new pipes and the most prominent is the race system (127-61004)that blocks oil filter access and requires removal of the center stand. I love the looks of this BUT hate the restrictions to maintenance . I've come across another version(127-61001) that seems to be street oriented and allows access to both but most web-sites say it isn't compatible with my 1982-lists only up til 1980.But one or two sites list it as compatable? Wondering if anyone has ever mounted one of these with any success and if it limits cornering clearance ? I'll be happy as long as it will corner at least as deep as the stock pipes (4 into 2). I appreciate any info/advice !
Thanks ,
Rick

All the header pipes listed for the earlier model bikes will fit on your GPz1100 engine, the only problem is the rear bracket. It's different on different models. When I need to do what you are trying to do I just buy the header I fab up the rear bracket to work with whatever bike I have. There are a few exceptions to this but overall that is the rule of thumb.
I just installed an old Kerker from a 1976 KZ900 onto my 82 GPz1100. The head pipe bolted right up and I fabbed up the rear bracket.

Baldy, I don't suppose that the 900/1000 pipes would bolt up to the head pipes 0n a 82 GPZ 750,, right? Do I have to get Kerkers made specifically for the 750? I am looking for Kerkers for my 82 GPZ 750.

No they will not just bolt on, the head spacing are different. The 650 and 750 fours are the same as is the 900, 1000 and 1100.

J rider try looking for z650 /700 /750 exhausts, increases your choice a lot. The rear hanger is no big deal to make.
I just picked up a really nice handmade stainless steel predator 4-1 leftie for mine, listed as 650.

Thank you baldy ! Which header did you use-type that blocked access to oil filter or type that allowed access? Just curious as to whether either one limited cornering clearance.
