Doh! vernier calipers or a micrometer. Manaul lists minimum spring lengths, over the years these may reduce below service limit....particularly if a motor has been stood for years with one valve compressed.

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationAny dial calipers should work. See example in link. Ed

Standing the springs against a steel rule will do the trick.
